Let's Eat, Drink, and Be Merry at the annual Ugly Sweater Party! The Special Olympics NYC Leadership Council hosts one of their best holiday parties — their Ugly Sweater Party — here with us at Dorrian's (NYC) tonight Thursday, December 6th, starting at 8pm!
There's no cover, so bring your festive attitude to enjoy our drink specials, appetizers, 50/50 raffle, and to meet some local athletes!
The bar proceeds will be donated back to Special Olympics NYC! Looking forward to seeing you in your “finest” holiday attire...!
For more than 70 years — on the night of the first Sunday in December — the Brick Presbyterian Church (located very nearby to Dorrian’s on Park Avenue and 92nd Street) has partnered with organizer the Fund for Park Avenue to present the annual ceremony kicking off the seasonal Christmas lighting of the Cherry and evergreen trees up and down Manhattan’s Park Avenue meridians.
The Park Avenue trees have been illuminated every year since 1945 as both a memorial to Americans who have sacrificed their lives in war, and as well in celebration of New York’s holiday season.
Many longtime and lifelong Upper East Siders have attended the ceremony for years, if not decades, and have sought to continue the holiday spirit of seasonal celebration at Dorrian’s Red Hand.
And as such we every year continue to invite and encourage Park Avenue Tree Lighting attendees to join us here at Dorrian’s for an “after-social”, where we hang and chill and socialize and continue spreading the spirit of kindness, friendship, and “neighborliness” for just a few more hours to help end the week on a really high note.
We’re hoping you join your DRH friends and family at your “second home” for some added holiday cheer and drinks Sunday night after the iconic NYC tree lighting ceremony.
Larry will be your holiday, after-social bartender for the whole evening.

🍁 🍂 🦃 🍽 🧡 💛
If you can’t make it home for Thanksgiving, make it to your “second home” then. We’d love to celebrate the day with you.
For decades, the night before Thanksgiving has been one its busiest, and no less so for the native (and long-time) New Yorkers who have included Dorrian’s as a major part of their familial, social, and societal upbringing, meeting and making lifelong friends they look very much forward to catching up with on this night.
Tonight we again welcome and celebrate the Manhattanites and Yorkvillians who have made Dorrian’s their second homes since early adulthood. Several younger regulars remember being brought to Dorrian’s by their own parents for family meals and/or events with dear friends from any number of other NYC prep schools.
They may also reminisce about the generations of local and international debutantes that would make us their unofficial after-gala party venue, or how Dorrian’s was either the starting or ending point (or both!) of an epic night of bar- and club-hopping back in the 80s and 90s.
The love and hugs will be the most genuine and heartfelt. Some maybe long overdue, but all will be most welcome and most meaningful. The memories — yes, some spotty— will be no less filled with love and admiration. And the reunions will be marked with the gratitude that we all grew up — one way or another — through and at our Upper East Side restaurant, bar, and “second home.”
